Greater Dandenong Council is a member of the Greater South East Melbourne (GSEM) group of councils. Through GSEM, the councils of the south-east region have come together and joined with businesses and community leaders to create jobs and drive growth and prosperity for the region’s residents.
South East Melbourne is one of the fastest-growing regions in the fastest-growing city in Australia. More than one million people live in South East Melbourne, and thousands of new families move to the region every year.
With $43 billion in gross regional product and host to 50 per cent of Melbourne’s manufacturing jobs, South East Melbourne is one of Australia’s most important economic centres.
GSEM advocates for state and federal investment in job-creation, infrastructure and the region’s skills base so that the pace of population growth does not outpace the growth in local jobs, and that liveability is assured for families.
The councils in the GSEM group include the municipalities of Cardinia, Casey, Frankston, Greater Dandenong, Kingston, Monash and Mornington Peninsula. GSEM is also partnering with key business and community leaders to drive prosperity in an environmentally sustainable way.
