Background
The vision for Barry Powell Reserve was determined from community engagement on the Master Plan in 2020.
As part of the master plan, it was proposed that the Barry Powell Reserve East playground be replaced with a nature play themed playground within the existing informal parkland area.
The draft concept plan for the new playground has a nature play theme, with the planting of at least 50 new trees. Play areas will be located among the new and existing trees. Equipment will be constructed from timber where possible, with the use of plastics kept to a minimum.
Visitors will be able to engage with nature whilst exploring the gardens and trails that lead around the playground. As trees and plants grow, they will create a changing play experience.
