The Burden Park Master Plan was adopted by Council in February 2019 after extensive community and stakeholder consultation.
The aim of the master plan is to improve and maximise the potential of Burden Park, Springvale South to continue to support the development and provision of community and recreational uses, sporting facilities and events.
Significant improvements to the park include increasing the size of the main car park, expanding the shared path network for walking, providing fitness equipment, a multi-purpose court for social use, and increasing the picnic and bbq facilities. Environmental improvements, including increasing the park’s tree canopy coverage, and biodiversity improvements to the park’s infrastructure, are also planned.
The development of the park will be guided by the master plan’s implementation strategy which identifies short, medium and long term projects. The funding to implement the projects is subject to the support and funding of capital works bids as part of Council’s annual budget process.
