Whether you're a carer or person with a disability in Greater Dandenong, you'll get great benefits from the Victorian Government's Carer Card and Companion Card programs.
Carer Card
Developed through collaboration between government, business and the community, the Carer Card aims to recognise and support Victorian carers.
If you're an unpaid primary carer, you can get a range of discounts and benefits. For example, you're eligible for concession rates at some facilities.
Am I eligible for a Carer Card?
To be eligible for a Carer Card you must be one following:
- A resident of Victoria and a primary, unpaid carer of a person with a disability, a severe medical condition, or a mental illness, or who is frail, aged or in need of palliative care
- Providing care in the home of the person you're caring for
- A Centrelink payment or allowance recipient
- A foster, respite, kinship or permanent carer in receipt of a DHS reimbursement payment
- A kinship carer

Companion Card
Administered by the Department of Health, the Companion Card helps organisations that charge admission or participation fees to comply with anti-discrimination legislation.
If you have a significant, permanent disability, you can present the card when booking tickets to events or venues to show that you need attendant care support to be involved. Participating organisations will then issue you with a second ticket for your companion at no charge.
