From Friday 25 April to Monday 28 April, councils across metropolitan Melbourne will join forces to participate in the City Nature Challenge 2025.

Everyone in the Greater Melbourne area is invited to compete with cities worldwide by photographing wild plants and animals and uploading their observations to iNaturalist.

To get involved, download the iNaturalist app, create a profile, and join the City Nature Challenge 2025: Greater Dandenong project.

If you're outside Greater Dandenong, you can join the City Nature Challenge 2025: Greater Melbourne project.

During this four-day event, take photos of your natural observations and upload them to the iNaturalist app, ensuring you include the location. This way, your observations will be automatically linked to the project, allowing us to compete with participants from cities around the globe.

More information about the City Nature Challenge 2025 can be found at iNaturalist.
