Community Panel

The Aged and Disability Services Community Panel is being established to help shape the future of aged and disability services in Greater Dandenong by answering the question:

What role should Council have in aged and disability services in the future?

Council wants to identify a range of options for Council consideration based on the current and future needs of our community as well as the community’s preferences.

How will the Community Panel work?

The Community Panel will be made up of around 35 people from across the Greater Dandenong area will work together to identify preferred options for the future of aged and disability support services delivery. People of all ages, backgrounds and abilities are invited to apply so the Panel reflects the Greater Dandenong community.

Selection of Panel members will be managed by an independent organisation, Deliberately Engaging Pty Ltd. Council will not know who is on the Panel until the Panel’s first meeting.

Your contact details will not be provided to the Council unless you are selected and accept a place on the panel.

This is a ‘deliberative’ community engagement process, which means the panel will:

  • be independently recruited to ensure there is a cross-section of the community represented
  • discuss the issues, challenges, and opportunities in-depth
  • hear what the broader community’s input has been on the future of aged and disability support services
  • consider, and provide feedback on, options for the future of aged and disability support services in Dandenong
  • be supported by professional, independent facilitators.

The Community Panel’s recommendations will be presented to Council in early 2024 and will help shape the future role of Council in aged and disability support services.

Council will report back to the Community Panel on its response to the Panel’s recommendations, identifying which recommendations are accepted, which are not and the reasons behind Council’s decisions.

Council will provide support to community members to allow them to participate on the Community Panel. You will be asked about your support needs when you register.
