At the Council Meeting on 24 June, Council adopted several key plans to guide its future strategic direction.

The adopted documents included:

  • Budget 2024-25
  • Council Plan 2021-25 (Revised 2024)
  • Annual Plan 2024-25
  • Long Term Financial Plan (2025-34).

The Budget 2024-25 confirms Council’s commitment to maintain and improve services and infrastructure, while delivering important capital projects of community value.

Mayor, Cr Lana Formoso said this was a responsible, balanced budget.

“It prioritises service sustainability while recognising economic pressures of both Council and ratepayers. It strikes a balance between ensuring Council continues to provide services to support the community, and a capital spending program to provide much needed local infrastructure.”

Average rates will increase by 2.75 per cent, in line with the rate cap set by the Victorian Government. This equates to 67 cents per household per week.

In 2024-25 Council has committed to investing $93 million in the capital program, including:

  • Dandenong Wellbeing Centre Construction - $35 million
  • Keysborough South Community Hub Construction - $19.74 million
  • Perry Road Construction and Widening from Greens Road to Pacific Drive - $4.99 million
  • Parkfield Reserve Tennis Courts Redevelopment - $950,195
  • Greaves Reserve Oval 4 Lighting Installation - $584,200.

Council will also devote $286,000 to increase the tree planting program throughout our municipality, along with $80,000 on landscape improvements as part of our Urban Forest Strategy.

Council will invest more than $12 million to improve our local roads through the Road Resurfacing, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction programs.

Now in its final year the Council Plan 2021-25 was developed following an extensive consultation process and reflects the community vision developed by the Greater Dandenong People’s Panel. It aims to address the key areas of importance for the people who live and work in our city and those who regularly visit.

The Annual Plan 2024-25 outlines the specific activities and projects Council will undertake during the financial year to help achieve the objectives of the Council Plan.

The Long Term Financial Plan (2025-34) establishes a financial blueprint for the management of Council’s financial resources, ensuring Council remains sustainable in the longer term.
