“I started working on the project in March this year. It’s actually my first time working at Council, and I really like working here. I like the experience, the transition was smooth. It’s comfortable and a good environment.
I used to study and work for a long period of time, I know well how to manage my family and work and study. I’m an organised person; I always set priorities and I’ve got schedules. I want to say that I’m used to ‘juggling’, two huge responsibilities all at once. My family is so proud of me. They’re happy and I don’t feel like I’m missing something with them, I’m on track with family commitments.
Outside of work I’ve got a small group of community members from different backgrounds, we’re a group of mums. At the moment, we help each other setting up activities and events for our children or for mums-only; walks, picnics, lunch and brunch. We gather funds for each other if we need it. It’s a very small community – an informal network, with different backgrounds and different religions. We’re from all over Melbourne and we gather in the city, north, south, east and west.
The first day of work, I was so nervous. I wanted to show commitment and prove myself. I took a ticket for my car but then forgot to go and change my car over. I got a parking ticket! I was happy though because it was my first day... it was unforgettable.”
