Mayor of Greater Dandenong City Council, Cr Lana Formoso said, “Council is extremely saddened to learn of a pedestrian fatality in Dandenong last night. Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with the family and all those affected by this terrible loss,” she said.

“Losing someone in these circumstances always has a profound impact on our community.”

“Council is very concerned by the number of road fatalities in Greater Dandenong and across the southeast. We note that Victoria Police has launched Operation Regal this weekend, in a bid to reduce road trauma. We urge all road users to take the utmost care this weekend, especially with reduced daylight and wintry conditions.”

The tragic incident on Friday night was on a different part of Stud Road from where Council has been advocating for pedestrian facilities and traffic lights.

Cr Formoso said, “Council welcomed the recent budget commitment from the State Government to install traffic lights and pedestrian facilities at the Stud Road and McFees Road intersection. We commit any practical support we can offer to the Department of Transport and Planning, to have that project completed as soon as possible.”
