Council’s immunisation team has been nationally recognised for their innovative approach to improving access and coverage for priority populations receiving the Glaxo Smith Kline (GSK) Immunisation Award at the National Communicable Diseases and Immunisation Conference.
The award was presented by the CEO of the Public Health Association of Australia and CEO of GSK Australia and is accompanied by a $20,000 grant.
Council will use these funds to purchase non-government funded vaccines for priority groups in Greater Dandenong.
Lisa Beck, Council’s Immunisation Coordinator, presented at the national conference sharing the team’s success in being able to provide uninterrupted service to our culturally diverse community during challenging COVID-19 lockdowns.
Kate Russo, Team Leader Program for Refugee Immunisation Monitoring and Education (PRIME), also presented at the conference on the evolution of Council’s work that has supported refugee and asylum seekers to access immunisation over the past 30 years.
