Greater Dandenong’s Councillors for the next four years were sworn in at a special ceremony on Wednesday 13 November 2024.
This followed the Victorian Electoral Commission declaring the results of Greater Dandenong’s Local Government Elections on Monday 11 November.
Greater Dandenong City Council CEO, Jacqui Weatherill, thanked all the candidates who stood for election.
“It’s a significant commitment of time and effort to stand for election, and we’re fortunate to have so many strong candidates,” Ms Weatherill said.
“You were willing to stand up and make a difference in your local area, influence issues and outcomes that you care about and serve the wonderful community of Greater Dandenong – and that should be acknowledged.”
Ms Weatherill also thanked outgoing Councillor, Angela Long for her 25 years of service, including three terms as Mayor.
“Angela’s contribution to Greater Dandenong will continue to have a positive impact on our residents and the organisation for many years to come. I would also like to again express my gratitude to our retiring Councillors, Richard Lim and Tim Dark, whose dedication to our city has been significant and is appreciated.”
Ms Weatherill congratulated the new Council group, which includes eight returning and three new Councillors.
“We are very much looking forward to working with you to achieve wonderful outcomes for our community, this Council term.”
Councillor biographies will be available on Council’s website in coming days and the Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be elected at the Annual Council Meeting on Monday 18 November at 7pm.
The Council Meeting schedule for the next year will also be considered for endorsement by Councillors at the Annual Meeting.
