Council has purchased new public, open spaces to provide residents and passers by with a special and secluded setting for recreation and relaxation.
Open spaces provide many benefits to our residents, workers and visitors, and for this reason Council continues to invest in both improvements to existing open space areas and the purchase of new areas of open space. In the last two years, Council has continued to identify and purchase land for open space, with the following sites purchased during this time:
89 Douglas Street, Noble Park
This is a pocket park adjoining Mile Creek, which has been developed with a picnic area and seating.
77 Herbert Street, Dandenong
This is a park just north of central Dandenong that is currently grassed and fenced. Design work for the future park facilities is currently being finalised.
2A Frank Street, Noble Park
This will be a future park area along the western side of the Noble Park Activity Centre. Design work for the future park will commence later this year.
86-88 Clow Street, Dandenong
This is a larger park to the east of central Dandenong, and contains a number of large trees in a tranquil garden setting. Future works for this park will occur at a later date. Read more about this park
114 Hanna Street, Noble Park
This is a linear park that runs along the edge of Mile Creek and contains pathways, picnic areas and seating. To the eastern end of the park are a number significant river red gums that will now be protected.
218 Railway Parade, Noble Park
This will be a future park to the south-east of the Noble Park Activity Centre. Design work for this park is scheduled to commence in 2022/23.
These new areas of open space provide more than 7,000 square metres of parkland for our community to enjoy.
