Air fresheners are expensive and often contain harsh chemicals Plus, they’re generally not refillable, which means you need to buy a new bottle every time – so this recipe is a great way to reduce waste and create your own signature scent for home.
DIY Air Freshener
Equipment needed:
- Fine mist spray bottle approx. 120ml (I just refill my Orange Power bottle, but any small bottle will do).
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon witch hazel/vodka/ or isopropyl alcohol (available from the chemist or supermarket)
- 30 drops essential oil
- About ½ cup demineralised/distilled water (available from the supermarket. Tap water is also fine but demineralised/distilled water lasts longer)
Method:
- Add witch hazel/vodka/isopropyl alcohol to the spray bottle.
- Add your essential oils of choice.
- Swirl the bottle about 10 times to combine the oil with the other liquid.
- Top the bottle up with water, leaving a little room at the top for shaking.
To use:
Shake well and spray into the air. Usually, 2-3 pumps is sufficient.
