Referendum Outcome - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice to Parliament

Dandenong Civic Centre facade

Greater Dandenong City Council continues to stand in solidarity with our Traditional Custodians following Saturday’s decision on the Voice to Parliament referendum.

Our thoughts are with First Nations people during this challenging time.

As the most culturally diverse city in Australia, respect for other cultures is a core value of everyday life in Greater Dandenong and Council is committed to the ongoing process of Reconciliation and helping to close the gaps in the outcomes that still exist for our First Nations people.

Council recognises the strong connection First Nations people have to the land and waters of this nation and we are dedicated to embedding reconciliation across Council, including in policy, business and community structures as outlined in our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) 2021-23.

Council will continue to strive for change and champion First Nations voices.

We ask our community to keep acting with compassion and kindness during this time.

Greater Dandenong City Council will continue to show respect and acknowledgement for the oldest living culture in the world and ensure that our workplace remains culturally safe for people of all backgrounds.

We trust that our community will continue to work towards healing divisions and creating a better future together.
