Did you know that the Springvale Community Hub has an Advisory Committee made up of local community members? Meet Louisa, the current Chair of the Springvale Community Hub Advisory Committee.
Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I'm an academic at Monash interested in how people learn and use minority languages in their lives. I've lived in Springvale for the past 12 years with my partner and daughter.
What motivated you to join the SCH Advisory Committee?
I look forward to seeing the hub become a meeting place for residents across our diverse community. The facility opened during COVID which created some challenges in getting the word out about what the hub offers so I look forward to helping address this.
What do you think is the role of Springvale Community Hub in the community?
As a space away from home that individuals and groups can use to meet, undertake activities together and grow their skills.
What advice would you give to someone looking to get involved with the community?
Don't worry about whether you'll have time for it. Find a group that interests you and you'll be energised enough by it to make the time.
What is your favourite place to visit or activity to do in Springvale?
The Springvale Community Hub - obviously! From the library to playground and sport areas there's something for everyone. I especially love taking my laptop and working on the library balcony in amongst the trees on sunny days.
Can you share a fun fact about yourself that people might not know?
I'm a Rugby League tragic and have an uncle who used to play for St George (many, many years ago).
