Take a Swing for Charity Celebrates 16 Years

Person playing golf

The annual Take a Swing for Charity Golf Day is celebrating its 16th birthday and is once again setting an ambitious fundraising goal.

The joint Greater Dandenong City Council and Industry event is a unique golf day that offers local business and industry the chance to give back to our community.

Since its inception the event has supported more than 18 local charities, helping thousands in our community, including those experiencing food insecurity, poverty, homelessness, domestic violence and health issues. Funds raised have also supported programs to remove barriers to employment and assist people with disabilities.

Thanks to a small and dedicated group of local business and industry sponsors, the event has raised more than $660,000 over its history. Last year it raised $51,000.

All funds raised this year will assist Noble Park Community Centre to revitalise their kitchenette, making it accessible to people of all abilities and expand their food relief program by an additional 200 meals per week. The centre currently supports over 1100 families and individuals within our community.

This year’s event will be held on Monday 17 February at Commonwealth Golf Club in Oakleigh South.

If you don’t play golf, you can still support the event by donating an auction item or attending the dinner and bidding on any of the generous auction prizes.
