About Jim

As a six-time Mayor of Greater Dandenong, I’m also a proud Dandenong resident of more than 50 years. Four generations of my family live here. After forging a long, successful career in retail, I can step back from business a little and focus even more on my Councillor and community duties.

I was first elected to Council in 2005 and over the years, there are many things to be proud, including the Dandenong Civic Centre (completed in 2014) and the Springvale Community Hub (completed in 2020). I look forward to the opening of the Keysborough South Community Hub in 2025 and to our planned Dandenong Wellbeing Centre. I believe in investing in major infrastructure that will serve our city in the decades ahead.

I’m also passionate about delivering services to our young people, seniors and our multicultural community. My vision is for Council to connect people and make sure they’re set up for success. This might be Maternal Child Health and Childhood Immunisation, or literacy and homework programs in the library. It could be help for a young entrepreneur wanting to start a home-based business, or support for older people to stay in their homes. These are the things that keep our community safe, healthy and strong.

I’ve got a long history of involvement in business, community and sporting organisations. I’m really proud of our community as a multicultural success story, where people of different faiths, cultures and backgrounds can live and work together harmoniously. I’m also keen to promote our story as one of the manufacturing engine rooms of Australia, to grow local investment and prosperity.

I will continue to work for the best results for our Greater Dandenong community.
