We’re bringing the paradise island of Mauritius to Dandenong Market.

Join us to celebrate Mauritius Independence Day on Sunday 12 March from 11am until 2pm.

Mauritian culture is a fascinating blend of African, South Asian and European influences. The event will showcase Mauritian traditions, including sega music and dance workshop and live performances featuring Indian dhol drumming from 11am.

Authentic delicacies will be served by La Caze Mama, formerly the popular Delicious Mauritius. For one day only, delight your tastebuds with unmissable venison salmi. This tropical and delicious Créole Mauritian hunting dish is a tantalising stew that combines lean and flavourful venison with aromatic spices that is an authentic taste of the island.

If you’re hungry for more, there will plenty of dishes from the Market’s hawker traders.

The dress code is typically Mauritian – “tropical loud” – and we will have spot prizes for the loudest and proudest on the day! Of course, you don’t have to be Mauritian to join in the fun!

This event is free to attend and is family-friendly fun for all ages.
