Are you interested in the voices of our community and their priorities for our future? Would you like to see how a deliberative community engagement process works?
Interested community members are invited to come along and observe how the panel works, listen to their discussions and see how a deliberative engagement process works. This is an important part of the process and increases the transparency of community engagement and Council decision making.
The Our City, Our Future Community Panel is a group of 40 residents and business owners who have been randomly selected to represent our city in developing recommendations for Council's priorities for the next four years. They will be meeting over four days in October and November to discuss the following question:
We have a diverse community, expanding needs and limited resources so cannot do everything. With these challenges in mind - How can we make our city a home to all?
The recommendations of the panel will then be used to influence Council's strategic documents including the Council Plan and Long Term Financial Strategy.
There will be three open sessions for observers with the other sessions closed to panel members only. Observers will not be able to engage with panel members or provide input, this is an opportunity to view the process and see how a deliberative panel works. You will be sent a copy of Observer Guidelines when you register so that you understand your role and ensure you do not disrupt the panel’s proceedings.
Registrations are required as places are limited.
