This project will revegetate an area of Corio Reserve with water-wise native plants comprised of ‘cooling’ canopy trees, mid-story and ground cover diversity. An additional resting tree for migratory birds will be planted.
Some of these trees will grow into hollow bearing trees and provide nesting sites for a range of animals including the majestic kookaburra.
The City of Greater Dandenong’s Parks Team will install a community native bee hotel made of repurposed timber within the reserve then facilitate bee hotel making workshops with local kindergarten and primary school groups.
This project is funded by the Federal Government through the Communities Environment Program Grants and the City of Greater Dandenong.
