Expressions of interest are now open for community members who wish to share a story about Merle Mitchell, community activist and member of the Spirit of Enterprise.
Merle passed away in September 2021 and in recognition of her contributions to the community, Council is supporting a memorial event. Merle’s contribution to the community has been immense and she became widely known and respected for her achievements at local, state and federal levels, especially as an advocate for the provision of adequate social welfare and advocate for the rights of older people in Aged Care.
A celebratory event will be held on Sunday 13 November to celebrate the life of Merle and her contributions to the community.
Community members were invited to submit a short story that will be displayed during the celebration.
