Celebrate Refugee Week 2025

This year, the theme for Refugee Week 2025 is "Finding Freedom: Diversity in Community." The Greater Dandenong City Council, as a Refugee Welcome Zone, invites you to join us in celebrating this meaningful occasion from 15-21 June.

We are excited to announce a special community event on Sunday 15 June, from 10am to 3pm at the Springvale Town Hall. The event will showcase live performances, cultural experiences, family-friendly activities, and a variety of community stalls that reflect the diverse journeys of refugees and their families.

Event Leadership and Partnership

This year's Refugee Week event will be backed by Council’s Multicultural and People Seeking Advisory Committee, with SisterWorks as the main lead. Council is honoured to partner with SisterWorks for this event to ensure the success of this celebration. This collaboration represents our collective commitment to supporting refugee communities and fostering unity across Greater Dandenong.

A Celebration of Resilience and Community

The Refugee Week 2025 event is designed to bring together local communities, celebrate cultural diversity, and support refugee families in the region. It is a space for connection, learning, and collective celebration. We encourage all participants to reflect on the shared experiences of refugees and to show solidarity with families in search of safety and freedom.

Expression of Interest to Participate

We are seeking expressions of interest from community organisations who wish to be involved in the event by hosting a stall on Sunday 15 June, from 10am-3pm. This is an exciting opportunity to engage with the community, showcase services, and support the theme of "Finding Freedom: Diversity in Community".

Participation is free, but spots are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The closing date for expressions of interest is Friday 16 May, or when all positions are filled.
