To celebrate the local community through portraiture, Seen is a photography competition that invites artists from around Australia to capture the faces and people of the City of Greater Dandenong.

Using any medium, artists are invited to submit up to two portraiture works for inclusion in the Seen exhibition. The subject of the work must live, work or study in Greater Dandenong.

Free to enter, artists need to complete an online entry form at greaterdandenong.vic.gov.au/arts-opportunities/seen by 3pm on Friday 11 March.

All submissions will be judged by an esteemed panel of industry professionals.

Prizes will be awarded in the following categories:
-    Open - $4000 cash prize
-    Secondary School - art materials pack for both the winner and their school (valued up to $1000), and a gift voucher to experience a live show at the Drum Theatre
-    Primary School - art materials pack for both the winner and their school (valued up to $1000), and a gift voucher to experience a live show at the Drum Theatre
-    People’s Choice - art materials pack, an opportunity to exhibit their works in one of the city’s public display spaces, and a gift voucher to experience a live show at the Drum Theatre.

City of Greater Dandenong Mayor, Cr Jim Memeti said the exhibition and associated prizes are a great way to meaningfully support artists.

“The Seen portrait competition and upcoming exhibition is particularly important given the creative arts has been one of the industries most heavily impacted by COVID-19.

“We thank our generous event sponsors Zart Art, the Drum Theatre and the Star News Group. Seen will showcase the array of people that make up our culturally diverse community and continue to highlight Greater Dandenong as a major player in the creative sector,” said the Mayor.

The Seen exhibition will be held at Walker Street Gallery and Arts Centre, corner of Walker and Robinsons Streets, Dandenong, from Tuesday 5 April through to Friday 17 June.
