Heinz - We Built This City

We Built this City celebrates the stories of some of Greater Dandenong’s favourite heritage sites as chosen by our community.

The global business Heinz arrived in Australia in 1934. The Dandenong site enabled increased production needs post World War II and was praised as ‘the largest food processing plant in the Southern Hemisphere’. The Dandenong factory closed in 2000 following a decision to move production to regional Victoria and New Zealand.
