One Percent Project

The One Percent Project was developed by the Greater Dandenong Regional Employment Taskforce, aiming to encourage all businesses and employers, regardless of their size and industry, to recruit One Percent of their workforce from jobseekers who are facing barriers in their journey to work.

Taking a streamlined and collaborative approach, the One Percent Project brings together the City of Greater Dandenong, the Skills and Jobs Centre, employment services providers and community organisations to help local employers meet their recruitment needs by tapping into the wealth of local talent.

There are many ways for employers to support the One Percent Project. Your company could:

  • provide a work experience placement for a jobseeker without any local work history
  • release staff to help a new arrival to develop their language skills
  • offer workplace tours to showcase their industry
  • recruit your next staff member from this pool of talent

The opportunities are endless.

Working together we can develop a skilled and responsive pool of job seekers to meet the needs of local industry and reverse the rising unemployment rate in Dandenong.
