Council does regular bin inspections, aiming to improve recycling behaviours and minimise contamination.
Yellow-lid recycling bins are inspected during a three-hour period on the morning of waste collection, prior to being emptied. Inspectors look for contamination and non-recyclable items. Each bin will then be tagged with a bin tag to inform residents of the outcome of the inspection and provide education on how to recycle correctly. Bins will also have ‘No Plastic Bag’ stickers placed on the lids.
